Doula Time Bank

Doulas Decolonising have set up a Time Bank. This is a pooling of our skills, resources and time as members of the Doulas Decolonising collective.

Who can apply for support:

All Black, Brown or other racialised people who are directly affected by, displaced by or diaspora to genocide, colonialism, white supremacy and violence that is or has been supported by Britain at home and worldwide.

We will not police applications, so we ask you to apply based on whether you feel that the support is appropriate for yourself.

How to apply:

Fill out the application form and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible. You will then receive an email from a Doulas Decolonising team member either matching you with some support we offer or signposting you to other support.

Unfortunately, we are limited by time, locational and financial capacity, so we may not be able to meet everyone’s needs or support everyone who applies. However, we will try to signpost to other free, low-cost and accessible support where we can.

Your email address or phone number (depending on which you add) will only be shared with the Doulas Decolonising collective members, not publicly. Any information you share with the doula/s you are matched with is confidential and we will always ask for consent to share any information with other doulas on the team.

What we can offer:

We have a range of online and offline doula offerings available. These offerings include:

  • Location based support in Nottingham, Stratford Upon Avon, Exeter and London.
  • Online or offline birth and postnatal planning for individuals and families*.
  • Online or offline prenatal, birth, postnatal, abortion and baby loss support for individuals and families.
  • Online or offline perinatal, abortion, baby loss and grief sessions for groups.
  • Hypnotherapy, hypnobirthing and EFT.
  • Location based food and nutrition support in Nottingham.
  • Therapy support.
  • Online only open grief sessions for parents, non-parents and the wider community.
  • Signposting to resources, groups, services and other support.
  • Black and Brown doulas available if requested.
  • LGBTQIA+ doulas available if requested.
  • Arabic speaking doula available if requested.
  • All doulas have signed our statement and are working on being inclusive, active and intentional allies to all marginalised people.

*We see families as birthing or non-birthing parents, including adoptive and birthed through others parents, and parent and family structures of all kinds.

We may struggle to offer support to people outside of SCEE+OUK (Scotland, Cymru, Eire, England and other areas occupied as the ‘UK’) as people outside of these areas will need access to the internet. And we understand the difficulty of consistent internet access worldwide, especially in Palestine and other occupied areas, and so we will try to work with you as much as the internet is allowing.

What we DO NOT offer:

We cannot currently guarantee strictly one-on-one/ continuity of care support if you are requesting multiple offerings, as each offering may be with a different doula. We cannot offer long term or full time doula support. We will be clear about capacities for commitments when we respond to your applications. We may not be able to offer you support directly as Doulas Decolonising, but we will try to signpost you to resources, support and services elsewhere if we can. Please be mindful in your own decision to interact with this offering – if you can afford to pay for doula support or could receive it elsewhere, then please try to and leave these offerings for people who do not have options. Please personally assess your privileges, need and access compared to other people and interact as appropriate. We will non-judgemental and inclusive, however, we may ask if we are best placed to offer you the support you need.

How can you get involved:
